WE’RE HIRING…..Looking for a new role as a Construction Buyer? Come and work in a supportive and collaborative environment!
We are seeking an experienced Groundworks Buyer to coordinate the procurement of materials for our groundworks projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the construction industry, ideally groundworks for new build residential, and will be responsible for ensuring the timely and cost-effective sourcing of resources to support project delivery.
- Job Title: Groundworks Buyer
- Contract: Full Time, Permanent.
- Location: Ulnes Walton, Leyland.
- Salary: Range £35-£40k per annum.
- Start Date: August-September 2025.
Key Responsibilities:
- Source and procure a continuous supply of materials for groundworks projects.
- Negotiate with suppliers to secure competitive pricing and favourable terms.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- Ensure all purchased materials and services meet quality standards and project specifications.
- Monitor supplier performance, addressing any issues promptly.
- Collaborate with project managers and site teams to ensure timely delivery of materials and services.
- Maintain accurate records of purchases, contracts, and supplier agreements.
- Stay up-to-date with market trends and identify opportunities for cost savings, value engineering and process improvements.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and health and safety standards.
- Procure stock items within agreed levels and co-ordinate logistics.
Mandatory Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Buyer, preferably within the groundworks or construction industry.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in using procurement software, accounting software (SAGE) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- A valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to sites and suppliers as required.
Desired:
- Strong knowledge of groundworks materials, plant, and subcontractor services.
- Degree or equivalent qualification in procurement, supply chain management, or a related field.
- Membership in a relevant professional body (e.g., CIPS).
- Experience working on large-scale construction or infrastructure projects.
