Solar Farms: Matthews and Leigh received an unusual approach from a German company involved in the construction of two large-scale solar farms. The works involved the immediate mobilisation of plant to quickly construct over 3km of access roads required to allow delivery of heavy machinery and equipment required to complete the installation. Although the works were undertaken in the wettest weather for years, Matthews and Leigh were able to deliver the scheme within all deadlines after only a two day mobilisation period. Haul roads had to be CBR tested and proven to be capable of supporting point axle loads of up to 16 tonnes.
